Project Description
Faraja Orphanage Childrens Home is a non-profit organization outside Arusha in Tanzania and was established by Faraja Maliaki Mollel 2008. Faraja Orphanage accepts children between the age of 3 and 15 years old regardless of tribe, religion or gender. The orphanage provides pre-primary education (nursery or primary school) and has four classes.
We provide the children as best we can by giving them food, shelter, clothes and the most important thing: we are trying to provide to them with a proper education. By giving them a proper education they will get the opportunity to become independent and change their life situation and set high standards for themselves. We provide the children as best we can by giving them food, shelter, clothes and the most important thing: we are trying to provide to them with a proper education. By giving them a proper education they will get the opportunity to become independent and change their life situation and in the future perhaps to fulfill their dreams.
Our income depends solely on people like yourself, and volunteers who provide us with donations. Therefore is one of our most important aims in the nearest future to try to create our own incomes by creating and development more self-sufficient projects, so that major lack of funding doesn’t become a huge problem.

Project Summary
Being a volunteer at the orphanage is a free job, but under responsibility. School is between 9 - 14 o’clock, Monday-Friday, but you can stay as long as you want during the days. All volunteers at the orphanage will be provided with certificate their last day. If you are going to work as a volunteer in Tanzania they require that you have a permit C.
Some volunteer tasks:
Teaching in one of our classes (we have four different classes at the moment)
Performing home visits
Playing with the children
Providing children with HIV / AIDS prevention education
Helping them to create new ideas for the development of Faraja
Providing first aid/medical help to children
There is no cost to participate, but volunteers must cover all their own living expenses. We can help you find cheap housing with a host family near the orphanage. We can arrange pickup and drop at the airport, but since most of our volunteers have gone through a volunteer organization or organized their own living themselves, we have not figured out any cost to come directly by us. But if anyone would be interested to come directly through our orphanage, we will of course count out the total cost.
Adults of both sexes over 18. Volunteers with skills and knowledge are welcome, but you don’t need any special qualifications, training or experience to be a volunteer at our orphanage. The only thing you need is a good heart and a desire to help children that is living in poverty.
