Sustainable Vision was founded in 2010 by Marine Biologist and School Teacher, Alex Wood, whom after volunteering, travelling and working abroad extensively wanted to make these experiences more accessible to all. In 2012 the fruits of over 2 years of research and collaboration came together in the form of www.sustainablevision.org.
So what exactly is Sustainable Vision?
Sustainable Vision is an online community and information service for anyone involved in volunteering either as an NGO, Organisation, Project or Volunteer. Sustainable Vision provides a platform where volunteers can find organisations and low cost volunteer opportunities home and abroad and also allows grass roots organisation to advertise their organisation and positions that are available.
By eliminating the need agencies and middlemen and only promoting low cost, grass roots volunteer opportunities around the world, we are able to help make sure that volunteers are helping those organisations that need it most and the fees that they pay go directly to the organisation rather than being taken up by administration fees and charges, this has the added bonus of saving you money too.
Sustainable Vision does not charge volunteer organisations to advertise enabling that organisation who lack of funds to have a presence on the internet and thus still be able to attract volunteers and promote their goals.
Because volunteers contact organisations directly either through the contact details published on the organisations page or via social media, volunteers are able to receive 100% accurate and up-to-date information direct from the organisations themselves.
What are the advantages for volunteers?
Potential volunteers have access to hundreds of low cost, grass roots volunteer organisations around the globe, so you can start volunteering straight away. In the case of most of the organisations you pay a donation upon arrival or a small fee as a deposit, so you know all the money you pay goes directly to the organisation and is not eaten up by administration fees, it also enables greater flexibility in your plans and means it’s easier to save for and plan your trip.
