Project Description
Agrupación Medio Ambiental “AMA” Torres del Paine is a non-profit environmental partnership that was createdin November of 2004 in order to contribute to the protection of and education about Torres del Paine National Park. This protected wilderness area is remarkable both for the incredible beauty of its landscape – which draws more than 100,000 visitors annually from around the world – and for the great biological threat it is under.
The growing tourist interest in the park and the growth of tourist infrastructure is having a clear impact on the environment, an impact which could be minimized by following the regulations of the Corporación Nacional Forestal (Park Administration) along with the collaboration of everyone who visits and works in Torres del Paine.
With this in mind, a group of workers and landowners at Las Torres Patagonia created
AMA Torres del Paine in 2004, laying out the following mission and objectives.
AMA Volunteer Program is an instance in which different people can have the experience to work and be part of the Environmental Organization AMA based in Torres del Paine. AMA's mission is to help protect the natural and cultural resources of the Commune of Torres del Payne, through conservation, environmental education and scientific research support.
