Donkey Sanctuary - Bonaire Netherlands Antilles - (click for project page)
In 1993 Dutch Nationals, Marina Melis and her husband Ed Koopman, established a donkey sanctuary on Bonaire for sick, wounded and orphaned donkeys: Donkey Sanctuary Bonaire. Today the primary objective of Donkey Sanctuary Bonaire is to offer a sheltered, protected life to all the donkeys of Bonaire. Our information about the lives and experiences of donkeys is also raising awareness amongst the local community, schools and tourists. Echo Bonaire Netherlands Antilles - (click for project page) Echo is dedicated to the protection of the Yellow-shouldered Amazon Parrot (Amazona barbadensis) on Bonaire in the southern Caribbean. With just over 1,000 individuals on the island these parrots are in danger of extinction. Poaching, habitat loss, and introduced predators continue to threaten their numbers. Supporting Guasa - Dominican Republic - (click for project page) Supporting Guasa is a grassroots organisation which works in the village of Ramon Santana, a.k.a Guasa (Wah-Sah), and its surrounding batey communities. Through educational projects, we aim to ensure the citizens of Guasa can develop their own skills to increase their life opportunities and ultimately avoid becoming trapped in a cycle of poverty. |
