Project Description
The school is a grass roots NGO organization which was founded on 29/06/2010. It was registered with the Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister of Interior, No 974 on 01/06/2011. Children with Hope for Development teach around 400 children aging from 6 to 12 years old. School at Po village is located on a strip of family land. It consists of an open sided thatched building with earthen floor.
The aim of the program is to provide free education program to the poor kids in Po Village and the kids in the surrounding villages of Po Village. The project at Po Village has been created to assist children out of illiteracy, create opportunity for them and contribute to the development of our society and Cambodia. We want to give hope and self confidence to the children and provide child protection and safety through education.
Volunteer’s tasks: Volunteers will be expected to help with the following: Teaching English and other extracurricular activities for children studying in Government Schools, improving listening/speaking skills for kids, improving pronunciation for kids. Organizing games, drawing, singing and other creative education, and extracurricular activities in the classroom. Helping kids to do homework, monitor academic progress, and make sure kids complete next day’s homework.

Project Summary
We ask our volunteers to give roughly 25 hours per week, 12-5pm, Monday to Friday. We require volunteers in the following areas:
English teacher: Teaching English and Other Extra Curricular activities for children studying in Government Schools.
Improving listening/speaking skills for kids
Improving pronunciation for kids
Organizing games, drawing, singing and other creative education, and extracurricular activities in classroom
Helping kids to do homework, monitor academic progress, and make sure kids complete next day’s homework.
Proposal writer: formulating projects and Experience of writing project proposals to donor.
Fundraising and Grant writing: by writing project proposals based on real situations in the working sites to fund its up running projects. You can also help CHD develop projects for its future working community sites.
Fundraising: Help us raise funds for our project. Identifying donors, sending them proposals, follow up, etc. Help us in online fundraising activities for our project.
Technology and Website Support: Support technology and website need of our organisation. Initiatives like E-Newsletter, Blogs, Websites, etc are required.
Administrator: Sound computer skills, including Microsoft word and excel; fluent spoken and written English; good writing skills and grammatical knowledge
Volunteer Coordinator: training and supervising, coordinating volunteers, developing volunteer networks.
Required qualification and skills: Fluent in written and spoken English, computer proficiency, excellent communication skills, experience designing and delivering training
Cost for Volunteers
The volunteers should pay food for themselves. The price of a meal starts from 1.50$ for one person
-Guesthouse
The room with fan costs 5$/person/night
The rooms are clean and include towels and sheets, two beds and a small ensuite, mosquito /fly screens, no cooking facilities.
The room with air-conditioner costs 10$USD person/night.
One month costs 150$USD per person for the accommodation.
Travel expense have to be covered by the volunteers and bike hire is available at a rental of1.50$ USD per day because the CHD school is located 8 km from Takeo town.
Volunteers should expect to expend around 350$USD to 450$USD per month for one volunteer. If you want us to pick you up at the airport, please inform in advance and we will make arrangements.
To volunteer at CHD you should be:
• Over 18 years of age
• Motivated to make a difference
• Interested in learning about Cambodia
• Interested in teaching in developing environments
• Enjoy interacting with and teaching children
• Able to easily adapt to new cultures and teaching styles
Volunteers are required to supply a copy of their passport, drivers license and a police check from their country of origin and complete our Volunteer form.
