Project Description
Child Rights Information and Documentation Centre (CRIDOC) is a non-profit making research and professional organisation, primarily concerned with creating access to information on child rights or related issues through Research, Documentation, ICT and other communication channels. The five core programme areas which CRIDOC has so far used to implement a number of its activities include:
- School Outreach Programme – We seek to establish a school clubs and libraries in schools throughout the country.
- Documentation and Resource Management – CRIDOC has put in place a resource centre/library that provides such information to various stakeholders.
- Research and Monitoring – We monitor various aspects of child rights situations in Malawi, such as the following: (a) Children's Budget Monitoring; (b) Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) Monitoring; and (c) Children's Media monitoring
- Training, Capacity Building and Networking - Through networking, CRIDOC facilitates workshops, seminars and training for its partners, and bring various stakeholders together to share experiences on issues affecting them and children.
- IEC & Media Advocacy - CRIDOC has also been facilitating media IEC workshops for its partners.

Project Summary
CRIDOC is always looking for engaged and motivated volunteers who are interested in human rights issues, especially with regards to child rights. Volunteers will help us in many capacities based out of our centre in Malawi's capital city, Lilongwe and surrounding villages.
This is an opportunity to work alongside all types of people; from community leaders to at-risk children and everyone in between.
Volunteers will be welcomed to assist in many ways, with a bias towards whatever interests you most -- research, working with children, teaching, information technology support, fundraising, marketing, project development and management, and more.
They may contribute up to 6-7 hours per day, from Mondays to Thursdays; and half-day on Fridays.
The costs for the basic needs of volunteers are listed as follows:
- Transport: 3 $US per day
- Food: 3 $ US per day
- Lodging: 12 $ US per day
TOTAL: $18 per day (i.e. $540 per month)
A background or strong interest in human rights issues, at least with a bias on child rights
A knowledge and ability to work in the English language or in a language necessary to work in the particular environment.
A good knowledge of computer
An ability to work independently and take initiatives
Be creative and global thinking
