Project Description
Project: London is an advocacy project that provides information, advice and practical assistance to marginalised and vulnerable people to help them access NHS and other services.
Project: London's volunteer doctors, nurses and support workers provide information, advice and practical assistance on how to access mainstream health services. The clinic provides basic healthcare in the interim period until our service users are fully integrated into NHS and other support services.
All of our health professionals are registered with the General Medical Council for doctors, or the Nursing and Midwifery Council for nurses. Most of the doctors and nurses are currently working in the NHS; they choose to volunteer for Project: London in their spare time. The support workers come from different walks of life. Some are medical students, while others work in administration, IT or public health. All the volunteers have received specific training to prepare them to work for Project: London.

Interpreters are required to help us meet the needs of service users, requiring flexibility and availability during clinic hours via telephone.
Doctors and nurses are asked to commit to at least one clinic a month for a minimum of six months.
Support workers to at least two sessions a month for a minimum 4-6 months.

We're looking for people with a strong desire and enthusiasm in helping to alleviate social exclusion by providing medical assistance to vulnerable people including the homeless, undocumented immigrants and sex workers.
We call our team a “mobile” team because team members will operate in multiple locations. It does not mean mobile as in “vehicle.
Although volunteers will be under the responsibility of the team manager, we expect you to be able to work autonomously as well as work as part of a group.
All volunteers should either have a history of working with, or be interested in working with, the most vulnerable or destitute of communities.
Proficiency in other languages is helpful, such as Bangla, Tigrinyn, Madarin and Punjabi, although not essential.
Doctors and nurses must be GMC/NMC registered and have at least two years post qualification experience and doctors must have medical indemnity insurance extended to cover working in Project London clinic.
