Project Description
Ecuador Eco Volunteer runs a variety of volunteer work programs on the Ecuadorian Coast, the Andes, as well as the Amazon Rainforest. We partner with both indigenous communities as well as non-governmental organizations and work together with them and our volunteers on programs that help protect and preserve the environment and increase the quality of life of the local inhabitants.
By helping the indigenous communities we have partnered with to secure an alternate source of income through volunteer tourism we not only increase the quality of life in that community but also prevent the community from resorting to logging and the extraction of resources that damages the environment. The volunteers are then happily welcomed into the community and invited to help them on many of the tasks like organic farming that the community engage in for their livelihood.

Project Summary
Volunteers will be working Monday to Friday and normally between four to six hours a day depending on the workload at the indigenous community or organization. Examples of work may include organic farming and teaching English to children to building and maintaining trails and tending to the animals. Weekends are free to travel around Ecuador.
The volunteer programs cost $300 a month with a $50 administration fee. 69% of the $300 goes to the indigenous communities and programs we work with and the rest is used for office costs. For more information on volunteer transparency please visit our website.
Included in the volunteer program is all accommodation as well as transport while at the volunteer program (the volunteers will have to make their own way to the nearest city or town to where the program is located and we will pick them up from there) On some programs lunch is provided by the indigenous communities but on other programs the volunteer will have to prepare their own food in the kitchen facilities provided. Check out the volunteer work program on the website to for more details on what is included.
An intermediate level of Spanish is beneficial to volunteering on any of our programs but we do run volunteer work programs like the Animal Rescue Center where having basic to no Spanish is okay.
