Project Description
“Save Mount Cameroon” as a project, will contribute to reducing rates of fuel wood consumption in seven village communities of the Mount Cameroon Forest Region.
It involves the building and use of Forest Saving Stoves in these communities, teaching community members how to use and build these stoves, training of community members in nursery establishment, management, tree propagation techniques and putting in place replanting committees.
The project in the long run will reduce the pressure mounted on this forest area by community high demand for wood as a source of fuel for cooking and general household heating.

Project Summary
Volunteer(s) will be in charge of building these stoves for community members, teaching them how to build and use them and sensitizing them on the general effects of deforestation and unsustainable forest exploitation.
Volunteer(s) will also be expected to take part in other general office work upon assignment.
A typical work week starts on Monday and ends on Friday, working every day from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. With a 1hour 30 minutes break.
The weekend is free for the volunteer to do whatever they want, unless previously arranged within the team.
If volunteers are staying with a host family, the volunteer will be able to join in family/relaxation activities, which will be an addition to his/her cultural experience.
The volunteer is not supposed to work on official bank holidays and is allowed to take one week off every 3 months, which is also to be decided with the rest of the team.
The cost of volunteering is free including the Pidgin Language training which we give all our volunteers.
Volunteer(s) might how ever have to pay for other social events they may want to attend such as parties and concerts.
Averagely, accommodation will cost around $120 per month including water and electricity bills. Volunteer upon arrangement with us might also choose a home stay accommodation where they will live with a family. This is important as it enables the volunteer to quickly integrate in community life.
Food should cost around $250 per month and could cost a lot more if Volunteer(s) is doing his/her own cooking.
Green Cameroon is responsible for all transportation and expenses related to the volunteers work.
We generally would accept anybody who can express themselves in English or the French languages.
What we require most from the volunteer is the willingness to be of service to us and our community once this is there, others comes as credit.
Volunteers are usually given enough guidance on what is expected of them but prior knowledge and interest in environment and nature related issues would be very much appreciated.
Volunteer(s) should be physically fit and ready to do work in the field. Other skills that are important to us include communication, fund raising, project development and writing, web design and blogging.
