Itwangi Hostel and Volunteer Experience
Focus: Education & Community.
ITHV began with its first project Dymphna Special School, a school for children with special physical and educational needs in Arusha, Tanzania. Recently we have opened three other projects across Tanzania in Dar es Salaam, Bagamoyo, and Maji ya Chai. All of these projects allow small groups of volunteers to stay in home stay accommodation and work in schools, orphanages, and hospitals With fewer than 10 spaces per project, volunteers will be able to tailor their experience and maximise their contribution to their project.
Costs & Benefits
Volunteers working at schools or orphanages will help to teach, play with, and feed the children. For volunteers working in hospitals the work will be dependant on their experience and qualifications. Volunteers will be expected to work normal working weeks however we encourage volunteers to explore the country and will support volunteers to fit this around their placements.
The daily cost of volunteering is $45 per day which includes all meals, accommodation, transfer from the airport, security, and induction. This does not include flights or volunteer permits (currently $200). There is no minimum or maximum stay.
No special skills are required expect for those people seeking hospital placements. For volunteers seeking healthcare placements without clinical skills/ qualifications we will discuss your needs to find the most suitable option. We do request that volunteers be 18 years or older unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Average cost per day: $45
