Project Description
Volunteering has been the soul of Asoiciacion Jovenes de Buena Voluntad since it was founded in October 2006; today more than ever international volunteers are the backbone of all of our organization´s activities, thus helping us to successfully realize our activities and programmes for the benefit of the community.
Our International Volunteer Programme gives us an opportunity to share and exchange knowledge and experience. It combines the opportunity for social service with the enriching experience of finding yourself in a new and different context to which you are unaccustomed; this facilitates a much more real learning experience.
The International Volunteer Programme offers various benefits to those participants who wish to improve their knowledge in global and development issues, whilst acquiring a non-formal educational experience as a volunteer. You will also gain a good intercultural experience, based in the application of skills and sharing of tasks. Above all, you gain an experience of social service with at risk or less advantaged children, young people and families.
Each participant can discover a new world; this is the opportunity to have direct contact with another culture, learn a new language and share your life experiences.

Project Summary
Jovenes de Buena Voluntad offers the chance to volunteer over a period of 2 to 6 months.
We know that, due to work, studies or other restrictions, many volunteers have a limited time to offer in which to give volunteer service. This is why JBV are committed to assure that short-term volunteers (4 to 8 weeks) can have a significant and productive experience, however long they stay for the greater the experience.
Short-Term Volunteering
Short-term volunteers can help with the construction or improvement of homes for families in need, participate in various workshops or in project administration tasks (translation, development of projects, grant writing etc).
Long-Term Volunteering
Those who can commit more time can collaborate with JBV on a Project that uses, or develops, your academic or professional experience. You can also work on existing and long-term projects.
For example, a recent group of volunteers have designed and executed a fun and dynamic programme of non-formal education for children who are at-risk in different communities.
Currently, we are particularly interested in working with people who have socio-cultural or sports training, also educators or student teachers, psychologists, social workers, anthropologists, and grant writers. However, w always welcomes all types of volunteers.
Classroom assistants; help with school work, provide incentive to complete school planning education, help to organize recreational, musical, sports, and extracurricular activities, such as visits to museums, zoos, swimming pool, and parks.
Experience working with children is required, e.g. in summer camps. Men and women who apply should be between the ages of 18 and 30 years.
20 - 40 hours per week Monday to Friday and some time weekend.
Other Ways of Helping
Thanks to your solidarity, we advance and grow; being able to make the dreams and hopes of many into more of a reality. Those who are interesting in contributing to such a significant social project can do so in the following ways:
Become a Member (an annual donation, donation of materials amongst others)
Make a Donation (monetary, books, clothes etc)
Purchasing our different Souvenirs (t-shirts, sweaters, Christmas Cards, postcards and more)
As well as offering the opportunity to show solidarity, and develop activities with at-risk youth we consider that Home Stay accommodation provides cultural and linguistic immersion.
It is the most effective way of improving your Spanish whilst gaining a practical knowledge of the reality of Peruvian society Bearing this in mind, our organisation offers foreign volunteers homestay accommodation in carefully screened and selected family homes in ventanilla.
We recommend that all foreign volunteers take advantage of this opportunity and make the most of this invaluable source of language practise and intercultural and interpersonal exchange.
Better yet, arguably the most valuable aspect of the Homestay experience is the opportunity to integrate into the daily activities and lives of the host family; exchanging experience, making new friends, and experiencing directly Peruvian culture and hospitality.
There is no fixed cost for Volunteering with JBV, though there is a suggested donation of $100 a month to go towards the running costs of the Organisation, and to assure that JBV can continue its projects into the future. Volunteers should also pay for their food and accommodation, as well as for their own free-time activates, transport etc.
Once we receive your first email we will immediately contact you to give you general information about us and our projects:
Send your CV;
Participate in an interview via Skype;
You will receive an email confirming your participation and we will prepare for your trip to Peru;
You should fill out the documents that the Asociacion Jovenes de Buena Voluntad sends you as part of the registration process.
Volunteers must be over 18 years old, and interested in realizing activities with children and teenagers. It is of benefit to have prior experience working with at-risk youth, or as a group/activity leader, or to have been part of a youth club or organization. Desirable qualities are; patience, self-motivation (activities can, at times, seem routine) and flexibility (our activities do not all have a fixed timetable).
A basic knowledge of Spanish is important to interact with the young people and organization representatives. You will also need to organize and prepare activities, and have the opportunity to develop your own project in your area of interest and experience.
Volunteers should also have initiative and dynamism, a desire to work in a multicultural environment, an interest in developing the interests, skills and self-esteem of the young people involved in the project through activities based on the good use of free and leisure time. Responsibilities carried out will depend on the level of experience of individual volunteers, his/her skills and the positions available at the time.
