Project Description

The Limpopo Transfrontier Predator Project is a research initiative aimed at providing the necessary information to improve conservation prospects of transboundary populations of cheetahs, lions and African wild dogs in the south-western Africa.

The Limpopo Transfrontier Predator Project (Mozambique) is currently seeking assistants to help with a landscape-scale assessment to quantify predator space use, predator distribution, habitat availability and threats across south-western Mozambique.

The work includes walking (occupancy) spoor surveys across gradients of wildlife and human densities, recording sign of predators, prey and anthropogenic information, the collection of scats, camera trapping, investigation of predator kills and of illegal hunting camps and events, and assisting with the capture and GPS collaring of lions.

The information gained will be used to evaluate connectivity, meta-population viability and source-sink dynamics and will be used in corridor planning.

Interested applicants can send CV and cover letter indicating why you want to join our team to kteveratt@gmail.com.
