Project Description
The Lotus Garden Forest Retreat Centre is providing a space for silence, meditation, forest adventures and time out.
We are also involved with community projects; just as taking all the local kids for an outing for Christmas or throwing a Christmas party for them here in Kraaibosch, with all sorts of entertainments and presents. We are also working on getting a sustainable community together for informal and illegal settlers in the area. This is still in the planning stage. We get the some of the children together also during the year at times for communal activities, to watch a video and so.
The retreat centre is a bit remote - at the end of the road, but flanked by the indigenous forest, with waterfalls and a river gorge to explore. It is an adventure in more than one ways.
Volunteers have to be ok in a forest environment, where there may be no other guests at the moment. I am offering yoga and meditation sessions on a daily basis and I take people for walks and to the market, where I have a stall, which is supporting the centre. The setting is lovely and also a bit rustic and wild.

Project Summary
Work may entail: cleaning, weeding, participation on the vegetarian kitchen, web page design, helping with the production of market stock (curio jewelry), helping the handyman with whatever comes up ... helping at community projects which happen mostly around Christmas.
Often volunteers create their own projects.
The works happens at a meditative space - approximately 4 hours a day. It is not hard work.
I am originally from Austria - so - I can speak German.
150 Euros a month, including basic accommodation and food, as well as transport from and to the airport or bus.
It also includes meditation and yoga session and spiritual materials to watch, listen and read. Internet can be privately only used if really necessary - not for facebook for example.
It does not include and insurance and eating out.
Volunteers can also come for a a shorter period if they want.
Volunteers should bring a sleeping bag, a torch , comfortable clothing for warm and cold weather, and sporty outdoor shoes for outings.
We require a sense of adventure and an open mind, a willingness to be helpful and to communicate whatever challenge may encountered in a mature way.
