Project Description
Parijat Academy is located in Pamohi, in the district of Kamrup, which is in Assam's capital Guwahati. The school was started by Uttam Teron with an investment of Rs.800 that was hard earned by him as a private tutor. It became functional with the construction of a simple room with a roof and bamboo walls. It is a beautiful and appreciable dream, of creating a sustainable school free of cost for poor students who cannot afford to get an education otherwise.
Since its inception in 2003 with 8 students, the struggling school is now the only source of education to 508 students. It is struggling for funding but with volunteers, the dream is inching closer to its final full realization.
The aim is to advance Parijat Academy from being a school that provides basic education to students to one with proper facilities for student, along of course with possible funding for full time teachers.
