Project Description
PSF is a volunteer non-profit organization created in Pisco after the 2007 earthquake. The first years were mostly dedicated to reconstruction providing house and sanitation. From now on our activities are going to be more and more focused on community development and education to provide a long term based and wider support to Pisco people.
This includes projects such as teaching English, youth development, environmental preservation and community oriented construction (football pitch, playground, park...) These initiatives provide diverse opportunities for volunteers to gain experience working in community development through direct execution of projects and activities as well as getting involved in the extensive planning and coordination required for them to be successful. It is an excellent way to improve your Spanish!
We endeavour to make a sustainable impact in every facet of our work by promoting community involvement and we seek to make a broader impact on the world by providing a unique environment where volunteers are empowered to realize their potential both personally and professionally.
We provide a platform for volunteers to gain valuable experience, limited only by their own drive and determination, which enriches their lives and the lives of those around them while building a stronger community.

Project Summary
Volunteers enjoy an extremely unique experience during but also after work hours. They have the chance to get to know each other and forge long term friendships.
Volunteers work Monday through Friday and a half-day on Saturday. Every day two team s of volunteers are in charge of cooking breakfast and dinner. As an organization operated by volunteers, everyone must pull his/her own weight to keep things running smoothly.
Volunteers are assigned jobs throughout the week to ensure the cleanliness of PSF facilities.
Volunteers enjoy a great atmosphere among people bonded by a common desire to make a difference. However, it is imperative to understand that PSF’s image in the community is of paramount importance to our ability to operate effectively every day.
When you come to volunteer at PSF, you represent PSF. You are expected to act in a mature and responsible manner at all time.
Each volunteer contributes $130 each week. This cost includes accommodation and food as well as general maintenance expenses (Wi-Fi, rent, water and electricity bill).
If you choose to stay in a nearby hostel and just eat at PSF, you will pay $100 per week for board and general maintenance expenses.
Volunteers who decide to stay in a hostel and eat outside PSF will pay $30 per week to cover general maintenance expenses.
Please not that every new volunteer is asked to pay two weeks in advance.
Volunteers need to be at least 18 years old. We look more and more for people that can spend at least one month with us, but we consider every application. Spanish is not mandatory but always useful.
