Project Description
This project is designed to promote English education among students in the Chimborazo Province of Ecuador. Our volunteers work in schools assisting the English teachers and running their own classes. Volunteers are lodged with host families (typically school directors). The ultimate aim of this project is to provide English teachers to schools that are without. The program is run out of the city of Riobamba. However, many volunteers may commute to smaller surrounding communities such as Guamote.

Project Summary
Volunteers are asked to work between 3 and 6 hours per day, Teaching English and assisting English teachers. The expectations vary depending on the institution. It is possible that you will merely assist the current English teacher with his or her lessons. It is also possible that you will be creating your own lesson plans and running activities on your own (with supervision of the regular teacher).
This program is free to volunteer in. We will provide lodging with a host family. However, you are expected to cover your own travel costs for arrival and departure, as well as living expenses (which may or may not include food).
We are looking for: People who can speak English, have at least a basic knowledge of Spanish, can stay at least 3 months between September and June, and (ideally) have experience working with or teaching children. ESL/TEFL certifications are a big plus.
