Project Description

Approximately 600 cats get abandoned annually at the Sanctuary, which shelters anywhere from 250 to 450 cats. The Sanctuary promotes spay/neuter, proper animal care, adoptions and education projects through public relations events. All funding comes from the 8,000 tourists who visit every year.

Everyday jobs include cleaning cages, distributing food and treating sick cats, clerical work such as stuffing envelopes, making photocopies and various other administrative tasks.

There are no volunteer fees; however, Volunteers are responsible for travel, housing, food and personal expenses.
Housing is available for approximately EUR 500-700 (approx. US$650-850) a month. This usually consists of a nice room in someone’s apartment with private bath.

Minimum one week with a full or part time schedule.
No particular qualifications other than strong motivation, flexibility and love of animals, especially cats. English, other languages useful but not necessary. Volunteers aged 18 years old and over.
