Project Description
Our projects take place in Fako and Manyu divisions of the South West Region of Cameroon precisely in Buea and Mamfe.
Most of the rural people or dwellers live in abject poverty and without basic facilities such as pipe borne water, pit latrines, poor health infrastructures and characterized with poorly equipped and incomplete schools, environmental hygiene and sanitation problems, malnutrition, malaria and absence of farm tools. It is against this background that we are proposing the following to our imminent team of volunteers or individuals and subsequent ones.
Jamadianle is a school for underprivileged children and AIDS orphans. The children have trouble in their daily activities and life. Volunteers will help them to clean and keep the school nice by sweeping the classes, playground every day. The volunteers are expected to help in the construction of the new school site, paint the walls or repair study tables, cupboards and chairs for the children. At free time, volunteers can help teachers and staff in some other tasks of the school and office.
The UAC vocational training centre is a centre that trains rural based, street and out of school children in woodwork, electricity, Computer and painting. We need a team of volunteers or individuals who will help in the training and daily job of making sample products.
Jamadianle nursery/primary school is the Basic Education program of UAC that provides value based education to disadvantaged children. The ages of the children are from three to ten years. Volunteers join in their daily activities such as teaching, sport and leisure activities.
All volunteering have duration of two, three weeks or more. The volunteers will use UAC vehicles for their transport to and from the work site. We would like to stress that it is very important for your volunteers to be prepared to work in a socially and culturally different environment and to be ready to be flexible as much as possible.
