Project Description
Youths Organization for International Volunteers ("Youths Organization") is a nongovernmental, nonpartisan and nonprofit making organization. Its unique goal is to offer services to the Kenyan community, through volunteering, that target and address the most serious issues affecting our community.
The Child Rights and orphanage Care project gives volunteer’s an opportunity to volunteer with Nakuru’s Juvenile Children and Rehabilitation Centre and orphanages in Nakuru Town. The Centre has 2 branches (one for orphans and the other for street children and other vulnerable children with behavioral issues).
This centre is home to orphans, street children and other vulnerable children with behavioral issues. The goal of this programme is to protect child rights specifically through the rehabilitation of street children and other vulnerable children with behavioural issues and Orphanage care.
Other projects includes: Nursing, Community Health and Medical.
HIV/AIDS Care.
Nutrition & Agriculture.
Sexual & Domestic Violence.
Evangelism & Mission.
Special Opportunities.

Teaching Public Schools in Kenya.

Project Summary
A Volunteer will work 5 days a week, 6 hours a day.
Your duties at Rehabilitation centre will vary but may include:*
a). Counselling abused children and street children;
b). Assisting with general teaching and life skills training;
c). Rehabilitating street children;
d). Cooking and cleaning;
e). Encouraging positive behavioural changes;
f) Life -skills that parents would normally teach.
*Duties at the Orphanage may include:*
a). Teaching; (you may also teach nearby Public School)
b). Counselling and life skills training;
c). Arts and craft;
d). Music;
e). Extra-curricular activities such as sports, recreation and playing with
the children;
f). Preparing and serving meals;
g). On site building, repairs and maintenance;
i) Giving them love, care and affection
j) Building a child self esteem and confidence.
h). Gardening .
Cost per day is $29 which caters for:
$28 for your host family to cover food (breakfast, lunch and dinner each day) and accommodation/lodging.
$ 1 for local transport from your home stay to the project site each day.
Minimum age to volunteer is 18 years old, English is also required, along with basic life skills.
