INTI RUNAKUNAQ WASIN is a not for profit organization with a mission to contribute to the integral development of children, adolescents, and young people with special needs. All find themselves in high risk situations due to extreme poverty, being abandoned, or being victims of some form of family violence. INTIWAWA - San Isidro - Arequipa - Peru - (Click for Project Page) INTIWAWA is an NGO that is located in Arequipa/Peru as well as Emsdetten/Germany. Our volunteers are based in the beautiful city of Arequipa, and work in the impoverished district of San Isidro on the outskirts of the city. We provide local children and adults with education and nutrition, as well as taking part in a variety of different social projects. Pisco Sin Fronteras - Pisco, Ica – Peru - (Click for Project Page) PSF is a volunteer non-profit organization created in Pisco after the 2007 earthquake. The first years were mostly dedicated to reconstruction providing house and sanitation. From now on our activities are going to be more and more focused on community development and education to provide a long term based and wider support to Pisco people. FairMail Peru, FairMail India, FairMail Morocco - (Click for Project Page) FairMail is a company producing fair trade greeting cards with photos made in Peru, India (2013 also Morocco). The photos on FairMail cards are taken by underprivileged teenagers. On the back of every card you see the face, name and age of the photographer. FairMail offers this youth photography training, part-time work, medical insurance and guidance in making their future plans. The teenagers get 50% of the profits of the sale of their own photos to finance their housing and education. Esperanza Verde Peru - Bello Horizonte - Peru - (Click for Project Page) Esperanza Verde is a conservation project under construction in the Amazon basin of Peru, consisting of both wildlife rescue and rainforest protection. Our aim is to work closely together with the local community, offering alternative sources of income, so that the forest can be managed in a sustainable way. To achieve this, we use a multi- faceted approach, combining tutoring, emotional well- being classes, daily nutritious meals and a family environment focused on educational success. Supporting Kids in Peru (SKIP) - Trujillo - Peru - (Click for Project Page) Since 2003, SKIP has been working with disadvantaged families in an impoverished district of the city of Trujillo, Peru. Our holistic program focuses on the educational, economic, emotional and social development of each child and family. It is our aim to foster the capacity of children and families to be the principal agents of change in their own lives. Pilpintuwasi - Padre Cocha Iquitos - Peru - (Click for Project Page) Pilpintuwasi is an animal rescue center & custody center in Padre Cocha, a small town outside of Iquitos in the Peruvian Amazon. We take in wildlife confiscated by the ecological police from markets, homes, & airports around the city- victims of poaching & the animal trafficking industry. Espaanglisch Language School - Trujillo - Peru - (Click for Project Page) Espaanglisch offers free & inexpensive English language classes to low income Peruvians. This program is aimed at giving those previously unable to afford language classes a chance to learn a new language. In doing so Espaanglisch allows for the fostering of new skills & opportunities in both its students & the community as a whole. The area of the park encompasses parts of the Andean department of Cusco and the jungle department of Madre de Dios. Manu protects 2 million hectares (4.5 million acres) of a territory rich in flora and fauna species, and a variety of habitats including high Andes, cloud forests, and lowland tropical rain forests. UNESCO officially recognizes this natural paradise as a world heritage site. Tambopata Macaw Project- Tambopata National Reserve - Puerto Maldonado - Peru - (click for project page) The Tambopata Macaw Project was begun in 1989 by Eduardo Nycander (supported by the Wildlife Conservation Society) with the goal of studying the ecology and natural history of large macaws so that this information could be used to help protect these birds throughout the tropics. The site chosen for this research was on the upper Tambopata River in the centre of a huge uninhabited track of pristine tropical lowland forest. Helping Overcome Obstacles Peru (HOOP) - Arequipa, Peru - (click for project page) HOOP works with the impoverished people in the Flora Tristan community. Our current priorities are developing strategic educational programs with which community members of all ages can advance their education, health and self-confidence, and better their quality of life.
